Flowers & Plants at Work

In today's economy, it is more important than ever for businesses to gain the competitive edge. Constant fluctuations in unemployment, productivity, consumer confidence and other major economic factors make it imperative for businesses to implement the right strategies to stay ahead of their competition. Workers' idea generation, creative performance and problem solving skills improve substantially in workplace environments that include flowers and plants, according to Texas A&M University research. Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital research found that commitment is largely influenced by one's sense of purpose, feeling of personal impact and overall trust in the organization; productivity is largely affected by the quality of human relationships including cooperative, social group moods and interaction. Something as little as adding a small plant for floral arrangement to your desk or office space at work could make a big difference in your performance in the workplace.

Flowers in the Home

Flowers might be the perfect pick-me-up for millions of Americans who do not consider themselves “morning people.” A behavioral research study reveals that people feel least positive in the early hours but reported being happier and more energetic after looking at flowers first thing in the morning. Also people feel more compassionate toward others, have less worry and anxiety, and feel less depressed when fresh cut flowers are present in the home.

Flowers = Happiness

With today's high-tech and fast-paced lifestyle taking its daily toll on our lives, experts advise exercise and other personal lifestyle changes to relieve stress. According to recent behavioral research conducted at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, nature provides us with a simple way to improve emotional health - flowers. The presence of flowers triggers happy emotions, heightens feelings of life satisfaction and affects social behavior in a positive manner far beyond what is normally believed. Another study demonstrates that flowers ease depression, inspire social networking and refresh memory as we age. So remember, Flowers = Happiness!!

The Legend of the Silver Pine Cone

There once was a poor family who didn't have enough food for their children. One day the mother decided to go into the forest in search of pine cones to sell to get money for food. When the mother finally reached the forest and began looking for pine cones she heard a mysterious voice say, "Why are you stealing my pine cones?" Suddenly an elf appeared beside her. She explained her sad situation to the elf. The elf told the woman to go into the next forest where the pine cones were better. The woman hesitantly listened to the elf and walked the long walk to the next forest. By the time she got there she was very tired so she sat against a large tree. Just then dozens of pine cones began falling to the ground around her. The woman joyfully gathered the pine cones into her basket. She was delighted to discover that all the pine cones had turned to silver. Her family would never go hungry again!

According to legend if you put a silver pinecone on your mantel or a dresser, good luck will surely come your way.
